What Does Yield Guild Games Do?

Yield Guild Games (YGG) is dedicated to maximizing the value of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) within virtual worlds and blockchain-based games. The organization operates through a protocol driven by smart contracts, guided by consensus through the decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), where governance proposals and voting involve a distributed network of token holders.

YGG engages in several activities, including the establishment of a global community of play-to-earn gamers who competitively collect in-game rewards, generating revenue through the rental or sale of YGG-owned NFT assets, allowing community participation in the DAO through proposal submissions and voting, and coordinating research and development for gamers within the DAO to leverage yield generation by participating competitively in metaverse-related games.

As technology facilitates increased online presence, a digital economy is emerging within these new virtual worlds, collectively referred to as "the metaverse." YGG's business model is designed to derive real-world value from the foundational economics of the metaverse.

Yield Guild Games Treasury

The YGG treasury assumes the responsibility of overseeing the management of YGG assets with the aim of maximizing the value returned to the YGG DAO over time.

In terms of economic activities, the treasury engages in the purchase of assets, including cryptocurrencies, virtual assets in the metaverse, SAFTs, in-game tokens like Small Love Potion (SLP), and other NFTs to contribute to the development of metaverse economies. Additionally, the treasury is involved in arbitrage farming to maximize yields, managing locked, unvested, and undistributed tokens of all parties, providing guidance in events related to debt, interest payments, acquisition of assets, including buybacks and future fundraising rounds. The treasury also performs financial operations such as accounting, audits, reporting, and tax-related activities.

The management of treasury assets is executed by the three co-founders through a multisignature Gnosis wallet. For each transaction, the approval of two out of three Trezor hardware wallet signatures is required.

The narrative of Yield Guild Games commenced in 2018, initiated by gaming veteran Gabby Dizon. In an effort to enable others to experience blockchain games, Gabby started lending his NFTs.
