What is CUDOS?
CUDOS is a Delegated Proof-of-Stake, layer-1 blockchain with a vision for decentralized computation accessible on-chain. The project's network design separates consensus from execution, ensuring secure, decentralized, and permissionless access to high-performance computing at scale. Builders on the CUDOS network gain access to high application performance, a developer-friendly toolkit, and composable asset management. Users benefit from high cryptographic security, public blockchain transparency, cross-chain interoperability, and carbon-neutral transactions.
Recent Video Interview
Main points of the interview:
- Pete, co-founder of Cudos Network, discussed his journey from working in data centers to building a cloud computing marketplace.
- Cudos' vision to decentralize cloud computing and integrate sustainable energy.
- The importance of preparing for the Web3 transition, highlighting the dominance of major cloud providers.
Proof-of-Stake Consensus
CUDOS employs a Tendermint Core engine for consensus, powered by a Byzantine Fault Tolerant (BFT) model. This model, considered a gold standard in Proof-of-Stake consensus, significantly reduces the carbon footprint compared to Proof-of-Work blockchains like Bitcoin. The PoS algorithm ensures secure and efficient network operation.
Why use the CUDOS Network?
CUDOS addresses scalability both vertically and horizontally, offering a lightning-fast consensus mechanism and Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol for cross-chain interoperability. The CUDOS Bridge enhances interoperability between the CUDOS and Ethereum networks, facilitating the transfer of tokens, assets, NFTs, and data. The network boasts advantages such as instant finality, low latency, extremely low transaction costs, and the ability to deploy inter-chain smart contracts.
Additionally, CUDOS will deploy smart contracts acting as compute oracles, connecting blockchains to the outside world as a layer 2. CUDOS Validator Nodes (CVNs) play a crucial role in accepting job requests, running them securely off-chain, and reaching consensus before submitting the final work. Stakeholders, both CVNs and hardware providers, contribute to the platform's success by securing the network and qualifying for various jobs, supporting a wide range of industries.
Developer-Friendly
CUDOS Network supports smart contract development that compiles to Web Assembly, making it accessible for Rust developers. The CosmWasm library provides modular code for building contracts, simplifying the development process.
Current Cudo Features
The Cudo platform currently supports:
- Cryptocurrency mining.
- Benchmarking process determines hardware specifications, including GPU, CPU, memory, storage, and network capabilities.
- Profitability and scheduling checks market prices and calculates the value of a supplier's work every six hours.
- Payouts distributed based on the percentage of work contributed by each supplier.
- Supports ASIC mining with auto-tuning and tailored approaches.
- Cudo's goal is to provide a secure, Turing-complete layer 2 to blockchains through the CUDOS network.
- Aims to offer a cost-effective, low-latency alternative to major cloud providers.
- Leverages computing power from data centers, mining farms, and underutilized devices.
- Cloud computing effectively serves as blockchain's layer 3, allowing decentralized execution of various workloads using SEV-secured hardware.
CUDO Ecosystem
Cudo Compute, a scalable compute network, rewards participants and benefits platform supporters, blockchain developers, and cloud service consumers. The introduction of the CUDOS token powers the blockchain part of the network, allowing participants to stake, earn rewards, and receive discounts.
The CUDOS token, an ERC-20 token, facilitates staking, delegated staking, powers the CUDOS network, qualifies for general compute jobs, and provides fee discounts. The tokenomics and model have been meticulously designed, with guidance from industry-leading token economists.
