What is Flux?
Flux serves as the underlying cryptocurrency within the Flux ecosystem, serving various essential purposes. It facilitates the acquisition of resources, acts as collateral for nodes, propels transactions on FluxOS, and serves as incentives for both miners and FluxNode operators who contribute computational resources.
The core objective of the Flux ecosystem is to empower individuals to create, implement, and engage with the decentralized future of the internet, often referred to as Web3.
Currently, the Flux ecosystem comprises several key components: a native proof-of-work cryptocurrency ($FLUX) that can be mined, the robust decentralized computational Flux Network (FluxNodes), an operating system built on Linux (FluxOS), the leading digital asset platform (Zelcore), and lastly, the Flux blockchain, which facilitates on-chain governance, economic activities, and parallel assets. This blockchain enhances compatibility with other blockchains and enables access to decentralized finance (DeFi).
Recent Video Interview
Main points of the interview:
- Flux Ecosystem: Cloud solution built for people; proof of work chain with 13,000 master nodes.
- Use Cases: Game servers, APIs, web services, WordPress, more.
- Competitive Edge: Decentralized, cost-effective compared to major cloud providers.
- AI and Partnerships: Nvidia partnership, focused on secure, decentralized compute power.
Benefits of Flux
Built upon its dedicated blockchain, Flux serves as the foundational element across all facets of the Flux ecosystem. Whether it's procuring resources within the Flux network or enabling decentralized two-factor authentication (2FA), Flux stands as an indispensable factor in ensuring the seamless functioning of the ecosystem.
Flux operates as a community-oriented Proof-of-Work (PoW) cryptocurrency with an equitable distribution approach (absent an Initial Coin Offering). Community members have the opportunity to earn Flux through mining and/or operating FluxNodes. The individuals who contribute most significantly to the network's vitality and the harmonious operation of the ecosystem are the ones who enjoy the most substantial benefits.
To reinforce this ethos, Flux has adopted its proprietary PoW hashing algorithm, known as FluxHash. This algorithm has been designed to resist ASIC-based mining, rendering it particularly attractive to GPU miners and fostering a decentralized mining landscape. FluxHash stands as a distinctive algorithm drawing inspiration from earlier Equihash algorithms such as ZCash's (200,9) and ZHash's (144,5).
Flux Team Background and Partners
Flux is guided by a trio of co-founders. Among them is Daniel Keller, hailing from the USA, who serves as a Co-Founder and the Chief Strategy Officer of Flux. With over 25 years of extensive expertise in technology infrastructure, operational management, and overseeing large-scale projects, he excels in bridging effective communication across diverse organizations.
Tadeas Kmenta stands as the second Co-Founder, contributing to the project since its inception. Currently holding the role of Chief Innovations Officer, he concentrates on pioneering new and emerging technologies developed on Flux and FluxOS.
Completing the trio is Parker Honeyman, designated as the Chief Operations Officer. As an engineer, Parker brings a wealth of technical knowledge and established development methodologies to the forefront of the project.
Flux has partnered with many notable enterprises: Streamr, NVIDIA, OVHcloud, LUMEN, FIO, KADDEX, Swapzone, Kadena, Simple Hold, and many more.
Flux Project Development
One of the lastest developments is Flux's partnership with Streamr, aiming to reshape the landscape of open data, forging a novel path for enhancing data accessibility within the blockchain industry. Streamr has skillfully incorporated real-time Flux data into its application, encompassing diverse metrics such as overall deployments, distinct applications, performance indicators, and the count of application instances, among others.
This integration grants users direct access to up-to-the-moment information regarding the network's operational effectiveness and well-being. It empowers both developers and users with immediate insights derived from live data, thus facilitating well-informed decision-making. For instance, individuals using Titan and Streamr can now harness the available analytics to gain insights into the geographical distribution of their nodes on Flux Cloud.
