What is TrueFi?
TrueFi is a modular infrastructure designed for on-chain credit, facilitating connections between lenders, borrowers, and portfolio managers through smart contracts governed by the TRU token. Launched in November 2020, TrueFi has originated over $1.7 billion in loans for more than 30 borrowers, including both prominent crypto-focused institutions and traditional firms such as fintech companies, trading firms, and credit funds.
Recent Video Interview
Main points of the interview:
- Discussed TrueFi, an uncollateralized DeFi lending protocol, which has loaned over $190 million with zero defaults.
- TrueFi focuses on creditworthy borrowers like Alameda and BlockTower, offering competitive yields up to 20% through stablecoin pools and staking True tokens.
- Governance via Snapshot and upcoming on-chain models aims to scale TrueFi's lending operations efficiently.
Why lend on TrueFi?
Lending on TrueFi offers transparent and publicly auditable transactions, allowing lenders to monitor every dollar lent and borrowed, along with the status and structure of each loan. TrueFi provides lending opportunities across various sectors with different risk/return profiles. Institutional lenders can seamlessly onboard and interact with TrueFi through the assistance of TrueFi partner Archblock.
For lenders, the process involves finding opportunities via app.truefi.io, onboarding/KYC (if necessary), lending funds with instant settlement 24/7, monitoring activity and tracking returns, and redeeming/withdrawing funds when liquidity is available.
Why borrow on TrueFi?
Borrowers can access capital at competitive rates from a global liquidity network on TrueFi, benefitting from 24/7 access to capital markets with faster settlement compared to traditional finance systems. Borrowers also have the opportunity to build their on-chain financial reputation for better access to capital at favorable rates in the future. Borrowers on TrueFi include leading institutions in the crypto industry and real-world finance borrowers, such as fintechs and credit funds.
TRU Token
The native token of the TrueFi protocol is TRU. Staked TRU (stkTRU) is utilized in governance decisions and managing key protocol parameters.
TRU holders can stake TRU to participate in TrueFi governance, receiving stkTRU tokens in return. Stakers vote on loan applications and may earn additional TRU and protocol fees. Stakers risk losing a portion of their staked TRU in the event of default on loans in TrueFi DAO pools.
Staking TRU involves visiting the Stake page, clicking on "Stake TRU," inputting the staking amount, and completing the transaction on the connected wallet.
What are Asset Vaults?
Asset Vaults in TrueFi facilitate off-chain credit or Real World Asset (RWA) activities. These vaults use on-chain attestations, or Asset Reports, to represent off-chain instruments.
Asset Vaults enable off-chain activities with low gas costs, supporting diverse RWA actions such as deploying capital to off-chain uses, managing multiple loans/instruments in a single vault, creating floating rate loans, and structuring amortizing loans.
Asset Vaults function similarly to regular vaults, but portfolio managers disburse funds using on-chain asset reports rather than on-chain loans. The modular components of Asset Vaults allow portfolio managers to configure them according to their unique needs.

TrueFi is excited to announce the recent portfolio launch in collaboration with Adapt3r Digital (@Adapt3rDigital). Adapt3r Digital offers investors on-chain access to the yield of US Treasury Bills. Operating on a daily liquidity basis, the fund's objective is to process all redemption requests within one trading day. With a focus on optimal fund utilization, approximately 95% of the fund's assets are consistently invested.
This marks the initial launch on TrueFi with more expected from the Adapt3r team in the future. Pending successful manager whitelisting from DAO governance, the fund is anticipated to go live in early August. Securing an initial commitment of approximately $10 million from an investor, the fund aims to broaden access through cross-chain expansion and targeted business development initiatives.
